Ken G Morka Foundation has been working non-stop to hand out essential items to keep people fed since the start of the lockdown.
The couple founded the foundation to improve the lives of the disadvantaged society by restoring their faith and providing them with care, support and hope. It also provides a home for orphaned and abandoned children.
The foundation focuses on women, youth and children development, persons with disabilities, and senior citizens.
According to the founders, it is an opportunity for the church to show both the love of God and the power of God during these trying times.
“The church is part of governance and it is vital to involve the church in decision making of the government. The church can play a vital role by praying and caring for its community, and extending help through giving to the needy.
“Without a doubt, giving is one of the ways to express the love of Christ. Jesus himself had compassion on the multitudes and fed them. This is a core value. Jesus said ‘I was hungry and you fed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was homeless and you gave shelter in so doing the gospel is preached’.
“The church should play the role of counsellors and source food and distribute it to the needy. Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning. This too shall pass and we will come out victorious. In addition, people should not be shy to speak of their circumstances during this time. The government and NPOs are there to offer assistance where possible,” said the Morkas.
