FROM KINGDOMS TO COLONIALISM TO GRASSROOTS RESTORATION
Topic: For centuries, Africa was home to powerful kingdoms, empires and monarchies..
Comrades,
Before Berlin, there was Benin. Before colonial borders, there were African boundaries that made sense. Before aid, there was African trade that fed the world.
THIS IS THE HISTORY THEY HID FROM US – AND THE HISTORY KGMFGM IS RESTORING.
- AFRICA WAS NEVER A DARK CONTINENT – IT WAS A LIGHT FOR THE WORLD.
For centuries, Africa was not a village needing civilization. Africa WAS civilization.
We had Kingdoms with Systems:
- Mali Empire (1235-1600): Mansa Musa – Richest man in history. University of Sankore in Timbuktu with 25,000 students when Europe was in darkness. System of governance: Decentralized provinces, gold trade, justice.
- Kingdom of Kongo (1390-1914): Advanced diplomacy, envoys to Vatican, centralized tax system, textile manufacturing.
- Benin Empire (1180-1897): Walls 4x longer than Great Wall of China, Bronze art that still shames the British Museum, street lights, city planning.
- Great Zimbabwe (1100-1450): Stone city built without mortar, gold trade to China, 18,000 people.
- Kanem-Bornu (700-1893):1,200 years of continuous governance – longest empire in world history. Military, Islamic scholarship, Lake Chad trade.
- Zulu Kingdom, Asante Empire, Sokoto Caliphate, Ethiopian Empire: All had armies, courts, constitutions (oral), trade routes, diplomacy.
Our governance was GRASSROOTS:
Chief + Council of Elders + Women Leaders (Queen Mothers) + Youth Warriors. Decisions by consensus in the ward, not by one man in capital.
Our trade was INTRA-AFRICAN:
Salt from Sahara, Gold from Mali, Kola from Asante, Cattle from Fulani – All moved across what is now 54 borders, without visa.
Our culture was DIGNITY:
We produced what we consumed. We wore what we wove. We solved what we faced.
- COLONIALISM DID THREE THINGS THAT KGMFGM IS REVERSING
A. It Dismantled Traditional Structures:
They called our kings “chiefs” to reduce them. They replaced our council of elders with District Officer. They told us our governance was “primitive” while copying our communalism as “socialism.”
Result: Today, a young African respects the Constitution written in London more than the council that governed his grandfather for 500 years.
B. It Redrew Boundaries to Divide Production:
Berlin Conference 1884-85 – 14 Europeans sat and cut Africa with a ruler. No African invited.
They put:
- The same family in 2 different countries (Ewe in Ghana/Togo, Kanuri in Nigeria/Chad/Niger)
- Enemies in one country to fight forever
- They separated farms from rivers, mines from factories, to ensure we could NOT produce finished goods.
Colonial boundary = To keep us importing.
C. It Planted Mental Slavery:
They told us: Your language is vernacular. Your cloth is costume. Your history starts in 1960. Your future is in Europe.
That is the most dangerous war – WAR #5: MENTAL SLAVERY. The chains moved from legs to mind.
- KGMFGM GRASSROOTS MOVEMENT IS THE RESTORATION PROJECT.
We are not starting a new movement. We are restoring what was dismantled. That is why in context of our Vision is UNITED CONTINENT OF AFRICA – not United Countries.
How we restore:
- We Restore Ward Governance (The Old Kingdom System): Old kingdoms governed from the ward/village up. Chief listened to ward.
KGMFGM says: 7 Comrades, 1 Project, 1 Ward. Development starts from Ward, not from Presidential palace. Every Ward is a small Kingdom that must produce.
- We Restore Traditional Leadership as Partners: Colonialism made chiefs beggars of government.
KGMFGM brings Chiefs back as Patrons of Production. Every Ward project must have blessing of traditional leader, and chief gives land for Skills Center. We don’t bypass them; we restore their economic role.
- We Restore Intra-African Trade (The Old Trade Routes): Mali gold to Egypt, Kongo cloth to Benin.
KGMFGM Market Link restores it: Bongor rice to Lagos, Lagos tech to Bongor, Johannesburg solar to Chad. Our Ambassadors (Regional, Continental) are the new trade envoys, like ancient diplomats.
- We Restore Production Culture (Before We Became Consumers): Kingdoms produced. Colonies consumed.
KGMFGM 12 Priority Areas – Agriculture, Mining, Manufacturing – is saying: We must produce what we consume again. From Grassroots to Greatness means from subsistence to industrial kingdom again.
- We Restore the Mind (Decolonize the Curriculum): At our Ward Skills Centers, first lesson is not how to weld. First lesson is Who were you before colonialism? We teach Sankore, Benin Walls, Great Zimbabwe. When a youth knows Mansa Musa was richer than Elon Musk, he stops wanting to die in Mediterranean.
- THE CONCLUSION FOR EVERY AMBASSADOR
Comrades, when you lobby, tell them:
“Africa was not poor. Africa was made poor by dismantling systems that worked for 1,000 years.”
“KGMFGM is not asking for aid. KGMFGM is rebuilding the African Kingdom system at grassroots level – where every ward produces, every province trades, every region unites.”
“We are not fighting government. We are finishing what colonialism interrupted – The United Continent of Africa, governed from the Ward up, trading with itself, dignified again.”
That is why we say:
- Political parties want power over the colonial state.
- NGOs want to manage poverty in the colonial state.
- KGMFGM wants to replace the colonial state with the United Continent – Ward by Ward.
FROM KINGDOMS TO COLONIALISM TO GRASSROOTS RESTORATION – WE ARE THE RESTORERS!
FROM GRASSROOTS TO GREATNESS!
